Although the word "marriage" means many things to many people, it is legally reserved, at least in New Jersey, for the union of a woman and a man. However, our religious convictions lead us to conclude that couples of any gender are worthy of equal treatment, equal respect and recognition, and therefore should be granted equal access to the term "marriage." Why is a word so important?
