Theologically, this month is important: the month-long Islamic Fast of Ramadan, a time of reflection and spiritual discipline expressing gratitude for God's guidance and atoning for past sins, begins August 22; Yom Kippur, the most sacred day in the Jewish calendar, a day of confession, repentance, and prayers for forgiveness of sins committed during the year, begins September 27; we UUs start our church year. I ask just why is it that religion matters?
